The ultimate, hidden truth of the world is that it is something that we make, and could just as easily make differently.”
- David Graeber
In my book, I explore the complex interplay between our bodies and society, using the metaphor of a bruise as a starting point.
A bruise, or hematoma, occurs when tiny blood vessels are injured, much like how individuals can be impacted by societal pressures.
The book delves into how stress and external factors can affect our physical and emotional well-being.
However, the core message transcends the biological, aiming to address our societal "bruises" — those being commercial pressures, hierarchical subordination, and societal norms that limit our freedom and well-being. It questions how we can renew our democratic order to serve as an expression of freedom rather than a limitation.
The work also tackles emotional landscapes like depression and loneliness, viewing them not as endpoints but as natural reactions to unhealthy societal structures.
Inspired by David Graeber's Quote that the world is what we make of it, this body of work is a call for reckoning and reconciliation, challenging us to imagine and enact different ways of living.
